Even if considered a timeless city with floating buildings and an incredible artistic heritage, Venice bears the traces of its entire history, included its colonial past. As the city of Serenissima, whose domain comprised the Istrian-Dalmatian area, Venice is also the place where the Italian expansionist project expressed at its maximum strength if looked at its double perspective: the African one, and the Balkan one.
